Sacred Beginnings: Tradition at St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church
For Christina and Kyle, honoring their Greek heritage and family roots was the heart of their wedding day. The ceremony took place beneath the ornate gilded domes and breathtaking Byzantine iconography of St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg. Steeped in centuries-old liturgical symbolism, the service was officiated by Father John Stefero, who guided the couple through the traditional crowning ceremony (the Stefana) and the ceremonial ceremonial walk around the sacred altar.
Surrounded by family who had traveled from near and far, the couple shared their sacred vows in an atmosphere of reverence and joyful anticipation. Dressed in an exquisite lace-appliqued Maggie Sottero gown from CC’s Bridal Boutique paired with delicate pearl-drop earrings, Christina embodied timeless bridal grace, while Kyle stood waiting in a sharply tailored classic black tuxedo. Captured with profound artistry by McNeile Photography, every quiet glance, whispered prayer, and joyous smile reflected a love built on faith, friendship, and shared cultural devotion.

Historic Splendor: Inside Downtown St. Pete’s Legendary Coliseum
Following the church ceremony, the wedding party boarded the Jolley Trolley and traveled into the historic heart of Downtown St. Petersburg to celebrate at the legendary St. Pete Coliseum. Built in 1924 and affectionately nicknamed “The Ballroom of the South,” the Coliseum is a registered historic landmark renowned for its Spanish Revival architecture, arched mezzanine galleries, and massive 15,000-square-foot red oak floating wooden dance floor—one of the largest and finest preserved ballroom dance floors in the United States.
To complement the grand scale of the Coliseum without diminishing its vintage grandeur, master wedding planner Tammy Waterman of Special Moments Event Planning orchestrated an awe-inspiring layout. Working in close collaboration with Gabro Event Services, the team lined the perimeter with warm golden architectural uplighting, illuminating the two-story vaulted arches and wrapping the room in a welcoming, celebratory glow. An expansive central floor plan invited guests to marvel at the space while keeping the spotlight firmly centered on the dance floor.

Opulent Tablescaping: Berry Florals, Gold Accents & Gilded Seating
Within the vast ballroom, banquet and round guest tables were dressed in pristine white floor-length linens, providing a clean, bright foundation that allowed the day’s rich color palette to sing. Floral artisans at The Bride’s Bouquet designed lush, textured centerpieces bursting with deep crimson garden roses, magenta dahlias, blush peonies, and cascades of Italian ruscus. Golden taper candles and mercury glass votives flickered gently, adding layers of dimension and intimate warmth to each tablescape.
At each guest setting, Gabro Event Services’ signature gilded gold beaded charger plates framed custom modern menu cards, welcoming guests to a lavish dinner service curated by Delectables Fine Catering. Running the length of the grand head table, towering Gold Chiavari chairs created a regal aesthetic that matched the ballroom’s timeless elegance, while the dessert station showcased a majestic four-tier classic buttercream cake by Publix perched atop an ornate gilded display stand.

An Exuberant Celebration: Bouzouki Melodies & The Traditional Money Dance
While the architectural elegance and fine dining set an unforgettable scene, the reception’s true energy ignited the moment Christina and Kyle stepped onto the historic 15,000-square-foot floating dance floor. To provide a vibrant musical experience that honored both American favorites and authentic Greek folk heritage, the couple featured two sensational live musical acts: the versatile Bay Kings Band and celebrated Greek bouzouki virtuoso Leonidas Tsantiris and his Greek Band.
Following an emotional first dance, the Greek band struck up spirited Kalamatianos and Hasapiko folk rhythms. The entire ballroom joined hands, forming sweeping, joyous spirals across the oak floor. In a beloved Greek wedding tradition, guests showered the newlyweds with thousands of dollar bills during the money dance, covering the Coliseum floor in green as laughter, cheers, and celebratory cries of “Opa!” echoed beneath the vaulted ceiling late into the evening.
