Carissa and Nick invited their closest friends to a sophisticated ‘night at the museum’ where art and love merged seamlessly in downtown Tampa. This stunning black-tie celebration turned the Tampa Museum of Art into a personal gallery reflecting the couple’s unique style and heritage.

A Masterpiece of Personal Style
Inspired by Nick’s family legacy in the art world and his own love for the color black, the couple curated an immersive experience that felt both intentional and avant-garde. Guests arrived dressed in all-black attire, creating a striking visual harmony against the museum’s sleek architecture while allowing the vibrant green floral accents to truly pop within the contemporary space.
Choosing a museum wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was a heartfelt nod to Nick’s parents, who own a gallery in Philadelphia. By opening the upstairs galleries to their guests, Carissa and Nick ensured the evening felt like a cultural journey, blending their family history with the modern, glass-and-steel energy of downtown Tampa’s most iconic waterfront venue.

Refined Details and Architectural Design
To complement the museum’s clean lines without overshadowing the art, the design focused on high-contrast textures and sculptural forms. We curated a reception space featuring crisp white linens topped with bold black accents, including architectural charger plates that added sophisticated depth. These sharp elements provided the perfect canvas for whimsical Ikebana-style arrangements of white lilies and green Bells of Ireland.
The choice of seating was crucial in maintaining the venue’s airy feel while providing a formal black-tie edge. Glossy black chairs created a rhythmic pattern throughout the gallery, offering a sharp contrast to the soft glow of the twilight ceremony. Every rental piece was selected to enhance the immersive atmosphere, ensuring the transition from cocktail hour to dinner felt entirely effortless.

Dancing Under the City Lights
As the sun set over the Hillsborough River, the museum transformed into a glowing ballroom where core memories were forged on the dance floor. From Nick’s high-energy choreographed number with his mother to Carissa’s touching dance with her stepdaughters, the evening was a beautiful testament to their blended family. The twinkling city lights provided a breathtaking backdrop for every heartfelt moment.
Working alongside Staci Mandikas of Unique Weddings & Events, the couple achieved their dream of a wedding that felt completely authentic to their story. By prioritizing a realistic wishlist and lean, modern design, they created an evening that was both a statement piece and a blank canvas for their love, leaving their 150 guests with memories that will last a lifetime.
