J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is a working cigar factory in Ybor City, and it is not a blank room. Brick, timber, iron windows and a century of soot-coloured patina are already doing the talking before a single table goes in. For this styled shoot, Gabro supplied the rentals and the linens.
Rentals that answer a strong room instead of decorating a blank one
Most venues need furnishing to become anything. This one needs matching. Put pale, delicate pieces into a room like this and they simply lose — the brick reads heavier, the light is warmer and lower than a ballroom’s, and anything tentative disappears into the background.
The answer here was to go darker and denser rather than lighter. Emerald velvet on the rounds, black napkins, smoked green goblets and dark chargers give the tables enough weight to hold their own against the walls, and the whole scheme sits at roughly the same value as the room instead of fighting it.
It is a useful principle for any industrial venue in Tampa. The instinct is to soften a hard room; the better move is usually to meet it, then let one or two lighter elements — here, the ivory runners and the candlelight — do the contrast.
Texture is the other half of it. Velvet is the one fabric that behaves like the room does — it holds shadow, shifts with the angle of the light, and never reads as flat. A crisp cotton on the same table would look pressed and slightly corporate under this kind of low, warm light.

Long tables suit a factory floor better than rounds
The long table down the middle of the room is the right instinct for a space like this. A cigar factory floor is a long, columned rectangle, and a run of banquet tables follows the geometry the building already has instead of cutting across it with a grid of circles.
Black chairs matter more than they look. Against exposed brick, a light frame outlines every seat and turns the table into a row of shapes; a dark one recedes and lets the tabletop, the candles and the guests read instead. The chairs stop being an element and become structure.
Sightlines improve too. A single long run leaves the aisles clear along both walls, which in a columned building is the difference between guests moving freely and everyone edging around a pillar with a drink in hand.
Mixing the two formats, as this shoot does, is also a practical hedge. Long tables seat a wedding party and give the room a spine; rounds absorb the awkward numbers and let guests talk across rather than only sideways.

Velvet lounge seating in a room that has no soft edges
Emerald velvet lounge chairs are the one genuinely soft thing in the building. In a room of brick, iron and hardwood, upholstery is not a luxury — it is the only surface that absorbs sound, and it is the only place a guest can sit that is not a dining chair.
Scale is worth watching with upholstery in a big industrial volume. Low, deep seating disappears under a high ceiling; pieces with some height in the back hold their presence and give the lounge a visible edge from the far end of the floor.
Colour is doing double duty. Green against warm red brick is close to a complementary pairing, so the lounge reads as a deliberate feature from across the floor rather than furniture pushed against a wall.
Industrial venues almost always need this and almost never have it. The building supplies atmosphere for free and comfort not at all, so the seating is what decides whether guests stay for the last hour.
